Keeping business and leisure separate
There are times when business transport is used out of hours for private use. This is when the privacy option comes into its own.
Being able to differentiate between private mileage and business mileage is key. It means automatically generated timesheets based on business mileage only are clear and undiluted with private mileage.
The privacy button also allows the workforce to use the vehicle in private mode without visibility of their activity, which is ideal for businesses where company vehicles may be an employee’s only family vehicle.
How it works
A simple button is installed neatly on the dashboard, which links directly into the tracking hardware. The driver simply pushes this button when outside of working hours to activate ‘private mode’.
Although the tracking hardware still transmits the data, when the privacy button is activated the web-portal masks the vehicles location and speed, but still shows vehicle status including when stationary, journey start time, duration and journey stop time.
At the end of each journey the privacy button automatically resets back to working mode to avoid accidental activation.
Simple mileage reports can be generated which can be fully integrated in the company’s back office system to feed directly into payroll and other management information.
